Wireless Internet Access at Princeton University

As a visitor to Princeton University (PU), please feel free to access PU Visitor Wireless Service (Network ID: puvisitor) from your personal computer, iPhone, or BlackBerry device. Visitor Wireless service is extended to all short-term visitors and is available in all wireless areas across campus.

Note: Use of the Visitor Wireless Service constitutes your agreement to abide by the University’s acceptable use policy. Once you access the Internet, please see Princeton’s IT use policies.

To get started using PU Visitor Wireless Network - puvisitor:

  •   Verify that you are in a PU wireless service area. Check your wireless network signal for Princeton University’s visitor wireless network, puvisitor.
  •   Connect to the puvisitor wireless network. Configure your wireless network settings to access puvisitor.

Overview of PU Visitor Wireless

PU Visitor Wireless service operates as a network that is open and requires no registration. This is unique to the Princeton environment, and is not like the service one might utilize at a public facility like an airport or conference center. Specifically, since this service provides complete Internet access without any registration (unlike most airport/public facility networks which require one to register and/or pay to authenticate to the network), the protocols used by the service require that the computers using this network be configured to attach distinctly to the puvisitor network.
